Stupid / Funny injuries?

Post  Lugh on Wed Apr 21, 2010 11:47 am

I was wondering if anyone has ever injured themselve's in rather comic fashion. You know, slipping on a banana, stepping on a garden rake, that kind of thing. Use this thread to share your experiences.

Here's my most recent, clumsy injury.

On Monday morning (around 6am) I managed to concuss myself and I'm still feeling the effects of it now. I was running to switch the boiler on and encountered a mop bucket on my way. So, doing my best Colin Jackson* impression, I hurdled the mop bucket full stride. Whilst I was gloriously flying through the air, I smashed the top of my head on the kitchen doorframe and then collapsed into a heap on the ground. Fortunately there was no blood, however I was swearing so much that the girlfriend came running downstairs wondering what had happened. After taking some time to recover my senses I decided to go to work, only to almost pass out at my desk before being taken to A&E.

I must say, I won't be doing the hurdles in my house anymore.

Do you mind if I laugh? Laughing

Well, it's a memorable experience, but I guess it had to hurt. Sorry for your head. 'Suppose it can stand a bit of battering, though.

Haha, of course not! Wink

Are you implying that I have a skull as thick as a Nord?

I recently got pretty wound up also, yesterday to be precise. Although far from as serious as Lugh's accident lol. Laughed so hard reading that XD!

So I was jumping on the trampoline in the backyard with my younger brother. After about 10 minute's of pointless jumping around, I noticed my youngest brother (who's about 3 years old) was watching us from the house. Since my impulse control is rather poor, and I'm somewhat of a show off, I decided to do a backflip. Not to worry, we've had the trampoline for quite a while and I've never been seriously hurt doing backflips or other "extraordinary" acrobatics lol. Without much further thought, I do a few more jumps to gain altitude and then leap onto the elastic carpet. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary while mid-air, so I took for granted that it was a successful exhibit of grace. Laughs on me when I landed, my center of mass was completely off causing my 180 lbs of a body to shoot off headed for the trampoline's edge. I landed roughly on the edge with my hip taking a healthy beating, rolled over the edge with my feet in the air and then crashed into the lawn with my shoulder. I quickly got up and didn't notice any instant pain at first, but that quickly changed. I fell as swiftly as I rose, lying on the ground whilst feeling excruciating pain in my right hip. Either my age is catching up to me(lol) or the impact fucked my hip up pretty good. My brother found it hysterically funny as he was suffering to catch his breath while I was suffering from my injury. It took me a good 5 minutes to get limp back inside.

I just regret we didn't have a camera to film it all :S.
